The First Post!

This is my first post on my first blog so I guess I'd better start with the introductions. I'm Ian Walker and The Image Street is my online portfolio. As you can see, the majority of the material is travel based with a slowly growing collection of Nature, Still Life and Food shots.

My day job involves copious amounts of travel and I realised that some day I would actually retire and all those places, sights and memories will be consigned to the past. It would be very stupid of me if I didn't start taking some photos; if nothing else just to reminisce over in years to come.

So about six or so years ago I purchased my first digital camera, a Canon Powershot A80. A great little camera which we still use at home today. I was soon bitten by the photography bug and quickly progressed to an Olympus DSLR and then to the Nikon equipment that I use and love today. Being a bit of a techie I quickly grew to appreciate the power of the digital revolution in photography. However while applications like Photoshop and Lightroom are superb tools, like most things in life, to achieve great results takes time and dedication.

The Image Street is my first foray into creating a website which would serve as means of organising and displaying my work as well as offering image sales as both Downloads and Prints. My work has been selling on several Stock sites for a few years now both in the Royalty Free and Rights Managed markets. Notable successes include image sales to "OK" and "Elle Decor" Magazines, "Berlitz Travel Guides" and a book featuring Bizarre Buildings! I've yet to find that one but my image of "The Experience Music Project" in Seattle is included in it's pages. If anyone finds it please let me know!

The website is constant work in progress at the minute with the "front end", ie Home & Contact Pages, being totally my own work while the Image hosting "back end" is through Zenfolio. Please take a look around the site and let me know what you think. I'm open to all suggestions and ideas. Also, I've found Zenfolio to be excellent and would thoroughly recommend them if you're interested in a Photo Hosting Service. Click on the link below to visit the site:
